AOV (Automatic Opening Vent) Installation
An AOV (Automatic Opening Vent) is a system installed in buildings to automatically open vents, windows, or rooflights when smoke or heat is detected, allowing smoke and hazardous gases to escape. These are enforced by Approved Document B of the building regulations as well as BS12101-2.
This is an example of our bespoke panel building abilities catered to your needs. this is a Custom built, 11 zone AOV Panel, fully built and installed by us at Specialist Services Limited.

This shows a more standard AOV Installation as a single zone AOV, replacing the existing system, leaving a clean, sleek and easy to use product.

Fire Dampers

Automatic Dampers (example pictured) operate using a smoke interface module, these are addressable parts wired back to a control panel in a ring or radial circuit to control the fire dampers.
As per guidance from the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and BS9999:2024 fire dampers must be installed, be it electronic or manual versions, to keep smoke or fire from travelling between compartments in buildings in case of a fire.
Fire dampers must be tested and inspected annually by a competent person.
Here at Specialist Services Limited, we offer installation, inspection and testing of fire dampers like these as well as manual or automatic fire dampers.

In the UK, lighting circuits must comply with the national standard BS 7671, often referred to as the IET Wiring Regulations. These rules set out how lighting should be safely designed and installed, including requirements for circuit protection, correct cable sizing, earthing, and the use of RCD protection to reduce the risk of electric shock. Special locations such as bathrooms have additional restrictions on light fittings and switch placement to prevent hazards. As qualified electricians, we ensure all lighting work meets these regulations, giving you peace of mind that your installation is both safe and fully compliant.

Emergency Lighting
Emergency lighting is a vital safety system designed to automatically activate during a power failure, ensuring safe visibility and guiding occupants to exits. It provides essential illumination in escape routes, stairwells, and open areas, helping to prevent panic and reduce the risk of accidents in an emergency. Installed in line with current safety standards, emergency lighting is a key requirement in both commercial and public buildings, offering reassurance that people can evacuate safely when it matters most.

Fire Safety Services
Fire safety services are systems and measures designed to prevent fires, detect them early, and protect people and property if a fire occurs. Within the UK, it is mandatory to have some of these services implemented be it passive or active using guidance from The Regulatory Reform (fire safety) Order 2005 and accompanying approved government document B and other British Standards. These services include fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, risk assessments, and evacuation planning. They are important because fires can spread quickly and cause severe injury, loss of life, and extensive damage. Effective fire safety services reduce these risks by ensuring hazards are identified, emergencies are managed efficiently, and everyone knows how to respond safely.
A fire risk assessment is the first step in the process to ensure the safety of your building and its occupants or visitors. Ensure your property is safe, compliant, and prepared with our NEBOSH accredited fire risk assessment service. We thoroughly inspect your premises, identify potential hazards, and provide clear, practical recommendations to reduce risk and meet legal requirements. Whether you manage a workplace, rental property, or commercial space, our expert assessments give you confidence that you’re protecting both people and assets.
The types of system we typically supply, install and maintain are open protocol systems such as, PSS, FireQuest, Advanced, Kentec, C-tec, Morley, Kidde and Ziton
We also have a engineers at our disposal for working on closed protocol systems such as GENT and ADT.
We design all of our projects not only to comply to relevant wiring standards such as BS7671, but also to all relevant fire and safety standards like BS9999, BS9991 and BS5839.

Upgrading a fire alarm panel requires precision, planning, and minimal disruption—and that’s exactly what we deliver. Every connection is tested, programmed, and commissioned to ensure the system operates exactly as intended.
Installing a new fire alarm system is all about getting the details right from the start. As engineers, we carefully assess the building, plan device locations, and install all cabling, detectors, and control equipment with precision and care. Every component is tested, programmed, and commissioned to ensure full coverage and reliable performance. We take pride in delivering a system that not only meets current safety standards but is also neat, efficient, and built to protect people and property from day one.

A VESDA unit (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) is an advanced fire detection system designed to identify the earliest traces of smoke before a fire fully develops. It works by continuously drawing air through a network of pipes and analysing it for microscopic smoke particles, providing extremely early warning of potential fire risks. This allows action to be taken long before traditional detectors would respond, making it ideal for high-risk or sensitive environments such as data centres, clean rooms, and critical infrastructure.
The pictured units were installed inside a very old library due to the amount of fuel in the room.

This is an extinguisher panel for a comms room to protect the system in case of a fire using gas extinguishers that are automatically released if fire is detected.
It's incredibly important to protect your property and the people within it with professionally installed fire extinguishing systems. This protects the system and the building from needing expensive repairs. It also more importantly reduces the need of the fir brigade to risk their lives extinguishing a fire that can be put out automatically.
We provide reliable installation services tailored to your environment, ensuring the correct type and placement of equipment for maximum effectiveness. From initial assessment to final setup, our qualified team works to the highest safety standards, giving you confidence that your premises are properly equipped to respond quickly in the event of a fire.

Nurse call and fall detection systems are communication tools used in healthcare settings to allow patients to quickly alert staff when they need assistance.
Typically installed in hospitals, care homes, and assisted living facilities, these systems can include bedside buttons, pull cords, or wireless devices that connect directly to nurses or caregivers.
They are essential because they improve response times, enhance patient safety, and provide reassurance to those who may feel vulnerable or unable to move independently. By ensuring help is always within reach, nurse call systems play a vital role in delivering timely and effective care.

This is an example of on of the many systems we offer, the Arquella analytics page. The user interface presents a clear, real-time overview of a care monitoring system, designed to help staff respond quickly and efficiently. Key sections such as live calls, today’s activity, and sense monitoring are displayed with color-coded alerts, making it easy to identify priorities at a glance. Notifications, including urgent issues like low battery warnings or fall alerts, are prominently highlighted to ensure nothing is missed. The clean layout and intuitive navigation allow users to manage calls, track activity, and monitor residents’ status with minimal effort, supporting a fast-paced care environment. This also presents clear and transparent reporting for CQC.
